Uttarakhand mesmerizes everyone with its classic natural beauty surrounded by the awe-inspiring Himalayan peaks as well as the lush green forests all around. With pleasant temperatures all through the year, travel destinations in Uttarakhand are popular with smart and discerning tourists as places to rejuvenate and unwind, both in summer and winter. Uttarakhand travel destinations offer a mix of everything for everyone, from adventure sports to pilgrimage centers. The valleys are as ancient as the holy places that abound in this friendly and welcoming state. Here are some of the unforgettable travel destinations in Uttarakhand that leave visitors spellbound.

The Valley of Flowers: First discovered in 1931 by a British mountaineer, who was enraptured by this picture-perfect location, it has since grown to be one of the most popular Uttarakhand travel destinations. It is a World Heritage Site with more than 300 different flower species. The Valley of Flowers is now a national park spanning 87 square meters. There are trekking trails, buses, jeeps, ponies, and even helicopters for people to reach the valley according to their convenience.

Rajaji National Park: Set in the Haridwar foothills, this park is as famous for its forest as it is for the hundreds of Asian elephants that roam freely through the park. There are also Himalayan bears, leopards, tigers, sloth bears, as well as exotic birds that can be seen. The numerous forest rest houses that dot the national park make it a pleasure to spend days and nights exploring the park. This is also the place for fossil hunters, with the 10-million-year-old Shiwalik trail being a treasure house of fossils.

Corbett Tiger Reserve: India’s first national park still abounds with legendary tales of its charismatic founder, Jim Corbett, who immortalized the tigers of Kumaon in his book The Man-Eaters Of Kumaon. The more than 200 tigers can be seen if lucky, especially in the months of April to June. The reserve is rich with other wildlife too as well as habitats ranging from grassland to rivers. Bird lovers will enjoy visiting the reserve in the months from December to March when a large number of migrating birds visits the Ramganga Reservoir in the reserve. The largest number of animals can be found in the core area that is open from November to June, called Dhikala.

Binsar: For a 300-kilometer panoramic view of the Himalayas as well as the Kumaon Hills, there is no better place to stay in than Binsar. At an altitude of 2412 meters, this town has wildflowers, hanging moss, and an exotic array of alpine flora that is breathtaking in its simple beauty.

Top Ten Travel Destinations

Certainly when it comes to finding out what the top ten travel destinations are there are a plethora of sites around on the web today which can offer you a list all of which say is the definitive one. However probably the best place to start looking for the top travel destinations around the globe is by having a look at what the World Tourism Organization website has to say on the subject.

Each year the World Tourism Organization will release data that lists the countries that have had the most number of visitors to theirs from other ones. Plus it also helps to show those countries which have seen an increase in the number of foreign visitors visiting their shores. For example in 2005 the number of tourists visiting China has nearly doubled and the same could be seen for Turkey as well.

Currently the most popular continent to be visited by most world travellers today is Europe with Italy being the top destination of all European countries. Whilst France, UK, Spain and Germany then follow close behind. Around 18% of all world travellers to Europe go to Italy, France and Spain. The reason why Europe is so popular is because of the architecture, culture and the history of many of its major towns and cities.

Another popular destination with other travellers around the world is Africa with Egypt being the most popular of all countries in this region with both South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia and Rwanda being close behind for visitors to come to.

However if you are looking for something a little more exotic then certainly in recent years the number of tourists taking a vacation in China is on the increase. In fact people are looking to visit countries such as China, Japan and Thailand as they have grown without being too strongly influenced by Western ways and methods.

Romantic Travel Destinations

Romantic travel destinations are located around the world but be sure you make the correct choice and research your romantic travel destination. It is not only young couples in love or who are about to get married and going off on their honeymoon who are looking for romantic travel destinations. But there are also couples who have been together for a number of years and want to celebrate the time they have been together.

No longer is going some where romantic restricted to just those who are getting married or want to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Instead you can choose a romantic vacation for any time of the year that you want.

In this article we take a look at a number of destinations that you and your partner may want to consider when trying to find somewhere a little bit more romantic.

Paris

Of course as soon as people think of a romantic destination they automatically think of Paris. Often referred to the city of romance because of its beautiful architecture and food however there are other locations within France which are just as beautiful and just as romantic and this includes Provence.

Dubrovnik

Located on the southern most coast of Croatia this city is fast becoming a romantic hotspot. Not only is the city beautiful that it may well take your breath away but it is the beauty of the buildings help to provide the romantic feel to the city.

Venice

This is a city where it seems to float above the water and has old cobbled streets where couples can walk hand in hand whilst enjoying the architecture around them. Plus for those who really want to add a little more romance in to their time in the city they should ensure that they take a trip on one of the gondolas.

Nevis

If you are looking for somewhere a little more exotic in relation to romantic travel destinations then this may be the place for you and your partner. This island is only 36 square miles in size and still retains a lot of its old Caribbean charm compared to the more commercialized islands of Jamaica and Barbados. This island offers couples the chance to stay in converted plantation houses and even if you do finally decide to leave your room during your stay there are plenty of activities that a couple can partake of which will help them so see some of the natural beauty that the island has to offer.

Thailand Such a Popular Travel Destination

Thailand, or the “Land of Smiles”, as it is also called, is one of the most popular tourist destinations. When you ask someone what are his top travel destinations, Thailand will often be the answer. What makes Thailand such a popular tourist destination? We will see that there are quite a few contributing factors that make Thailand such a popular country.

First of all, Thailand isn’t called the “Land of Smiles” for nothing; there is a good reason why it has that name. Thailand has the reputation of being a country that is extremely hospitable for tourists. Thais are such nice people, always smiling and trying to help whenever they can. They are genuinely interested and have at heart that everyone who visit’s Thailand enjoys their stay. Even though this is a very good reason to visit Thailand, there are a few more that make’s it a must for any tourist.

Another reason would be the rich culture and history of the country. When you visit Thailand, you will be amazed at the number of great temples that you can find a bit everywhere. While in Bangkok, everyone should stop by the Grand palace and the temple of the Emerald Buddha. After that, whether you go up North towards Chiang Mai or down south towards Phuket, you will find many temples and a rich culture that is truly unique. Ayutthaya is such a grand sight to behold and is an UNESCO world heritage site. But there are not only nice temples and ruins to visit in Thailand, the natural beauty of the country is one of its greatest assets.

Beautiful beaches in the South, mountains and rainforest to the North, there is really something for everyone in Thailand. Phuket is one of the top destinations in South East Asia and for good reasons. The beaches are superb, the weather is great, what can you ask more? In Thailand there are more beautiful beaches than you can possibly hope to visit during your trip, so you should choose carefully. Koh Phi Phi is one of the most popular and became famous after the movie The Beach. There are hundred of tourists that visit Koh Phi Phi every day. But the North also has its charm, although a different kind of charm. If you want to do some jungle trek, you will be very happy by going around Chiang Mai. It is a very fulfilling experience to do a jungle trek in the mountains around Chiang Mai and to visit some small villages.

Shopping is another reason why so many people go to Thailand. Bangkok is quickly becoming a shopper’s paradise. There are huge shopping malls being built around the city and the prices are very good. You can find many bargains if you look around and can also find the top brands in the bigger shopping malls such as Siam Paragon and Central World. If you stop by Bangkok, you should definitely go to the Chatuchak weekend market, the biggest open market in the world. There are over 15,000 stalls and each day hundred of thousands of people go to the market.

Thai food is another reason why people want to go to Thailand. Everyone knows about Thai food, it is very popular and gaining in popularity in Europe and North America. In Thailand, Thai food is much better than what you will find anywhere else and there are restaurants everywhere. There is so much choice of food that when arriving in Thailand you won’t know where to eat. Thai cuisine is very diverse, as there are specialties form the North of Thailand and also form the South. You should definitely try a Pad Thai when you arrive in Thailand, you will fall in love with that meal.

Finally, the last reason is the price. Aside from the air ticket, staying in Thailand is very cheap. You can find nice hotels for about 30$ US and if you eat in smaller restaurants it will cost you around 2$. Activities are also very cheap, as is travel. Staying in Thailand won’t cost you as much as the air ticket if you want to stay on a budget. You could easily spend a lot of money if you stay in the top hotels, as there are prices for everyone, but you can also easily spend very little each day.

So with all these nice factors that make Thailand truly unique, it is no wonder that it is such a popular destination. Everyone should visit Thailand at least once in their life. All of these factors individually could be enough to visit this wonderful country, but when you add them all together, you get a destination that you won’t want to leave.

Worldwide Travel Destinations

For anyone interested in seeing incredible worldwide travel destinations, assignments are a great way to do (and get paid for it!) I have had half a dozen jobs over the years simply because of their location and/or travel perks. Here are some positions that will help improve your vagabonding:

Rafting guides. Many companies realize this is not a lifetime calling, so they are open to training rookies. You can sign up for a class, and be certified to lead trips within six weeks. For those looking for more than a summer job, you can always jet down to the southern hemisphere (Chile and New Zealand are popular choices) for another term.

Flight Attendant. While I lack the patience for this position, the travel perks are extraordinary. How many people end their work day on another continent? Generally, airlines will comp travel for their own, and other providers offer a standard half off discount for attendants. A word to the wise: don’t expect the Indiana Jones special routes right away. Only attendants who have moved up the ladder a bit get the long haul flights. If you’re new to the industry, you can expect short distance trips for at least the first few months.

Long Distance Tour Guide. This type of job is not for light hearted. You are in charge of a dozen passengers, and drive them across country (or several if in Europe). Basically, you get to get the best (and worst) parts of a large part of the world, make friends and get paid decently. The company I worked for and highly recommend is Trek America.

If you are interested in experiencing worldwide travel destinations, assignments are the best way to do so on a budget. It’s important to realize, however, that many of these jobs can wear thin after a few months. My advice? Go short term; you can always find another job in an even more exotic locations next season!

American Travel Destinations

South American travel destinations are growing in popularity, and offer the travel some unique ecological and cultural places of interest. We chose Latin America because we love the food and culture of Latin America.

We began traveling to Mexico in the early 1970’s as kids, way before the million dollar condo projects…or roads for that matter. As adults we continued vacationing in Mexico and often traveled with our kids. It was really a natural extension for us to push further south and include Central America and South America in our travel plans.

There are many great South American travel sites, we only include a few here that our family hopes to visit. All of these are easily visited by arranging the trip yourself or tour companies will have these available in their South America travel packages.

Amazon

Visiting the Amazon is on the list of everyone that travels to South America. Beginning in Peru, the Amazon winds its way out of the Andes through many South American countries and through Northern Brazil before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.

The Amazon is one of the most exotic places on earth, and is home to a diverse ecosystem that is home for many plants and animals only found there. This is a not to be missed travel destination

Galapagos Islands

Located almost 600 miles off the Pacific Coast of Ecuador lie the Galapagos Archipelago, a string of some 22 islands that is home to many unique plant and animals only found on these islands.

Giant Tortoises, the unique Marine Iguana, Blue Footed Boobies, flightless Cormorants, and the Galapagos Penguin are just some of the unique creatures you will find on the islands and in the seas around the islands.

Access to the islands is controlled by the Ecuadorian government, and the most popular way to visit is through an approved tour operator. They offer many different tours, and they will have something that fits your interest, time, and budget considerations.

Machu Picchu

For anyone heading to Peru, Machu Picchu is certainly to be on their itinerary as it is the most visited tourist destination in Peru. These Inca ruins are located at about 8,000 feet, atop a steep mountain overlooking the Urubamba River.

Declared a Unesco World heritage Site in 1983, Machu Picchu is believed to have been built around 1460 and was an important city in the Inca civilization. The remarkable beauty and spirituality of the site draw visitors from all around the world.

Lake Titicaca

Another popular attraction in Peru is Lake Titicaca, the largest in South America and believed to have been the origin of the Inca Empire. The lake is 12,500 feet above sea level, 122 miles long and 35 miles wide.

According to Incan mythology, Manco Capac and Mama 0cllo emerged from the depths of the lake on the sacred rock gate on Isla Del Sol to found the Inca Empire. The best known islands on the lake are the floating reed islands which are maintained by adding fresh reeds to the surface even as the ones on the bottom decompose.

Iguazu Falls

Everyone that I have spoken to that has visited these falls tells me that these are a must see. On the border between Argentina and Brazil, the Iguazu Falls are more than twice as wide as the Niagra Falls and also taller.

The falls are protected by both Argentinean and Brazilian national parks on both sides of the falls, and the falls themselves are part of virgin jungle ecosystem.
2/3 of the falls are on the Argentina side, and where you can also find tours of the national park and jungle hikes.
